Quick Answer
Install the app, enable the banner in your theme, run a scan. Takes about 5 minutes.
1. Install from the Shopify App Store
2. Enable the banner
After installing, you'll see the Consentico dashboard with a setup guide.
Common mistake
Make sure you're editing your published theme, not a draft. The dashboard will warn you if the banner isn't enabled on your live theme.
3. Configure Shopify's privacy regions
This step tells Shopify to block tracking pixels (Facebook, TikTok, etc.) until visitors consent.
Don't skip this
Without this configuration, Shopify's native pixels will fire before your consent banner can block them.
If you have CCPA enabled
In the same Customer Privacy settings, check if "Data sharing opt out page" is set to "Automated". If so, turn it off — Consentico handles the "Do Not Sell" link for US visitors.
4. Verify it's working
Open your store in an incognito window (important — your regular browser may have cached the old version).
You should see the cookie banner appear within a second of the page loading.
If you don't see the banner, check the Troubleshooting guide.
5. Run your first cookie scan
Back in the Consentico dashboard, click Scan my store.
The scan takes 30–90 seconds and shows you:
- Compliance score (0–100)
- All cookies found on your store, organized by category
- Tracking scripts that loaded before consent (these need fixing)
The scan automatically categorizes most cookies. If any show as "Unclassified", you can manually assign them in the Cookies page.
You're done!
Consent decisions are now being logged. Google Consent Mode is active. Tracking scripts are blocked until visitors consent.
